Wednesday, all the Niblets went off for their first round of shots and a good looking-over. Everyone is in exceptional health and shape and now with first round shots done and sporting microchips, they are good to go. Robbie will be leaving us tomorrow. Russell will with us for one more week so both of his forever parents can share introductions into his Portland home with a new big sister.
But during their vet exam, didn’t you know there had to be a hiccup somewhere? It would seem that sometimes, just sometimes, bobtail and manx kittens can throw curve balls. Or not.
Yes. We said it before and will undoubtedly say it again. As foster parents, we completely, totally, utterly fail at sexing kittens. And we did it again, this time with the company of friends even. It happens, or so we’ve been told. Yes, we all got Robbie wrong.
Robbie is a girl.
A very, very healthy little girl, not the boy we believed. Which makes him, er, her rather, even more endearing to us, and better still, to her forever family who look forward to adopting her just the same. She, who will always remain Robbie to us, who isn’t afraid of the vacuum cleaner, who boldly rushes open doors (that will have to be unlearned and pronto in our opinion!), who throws herself onto every toy with everything she’s got and then some and yet who lies on laps and calmly gazes up into people’s faces as if memorizing every feature, our tough, brave Robbie is just the coolest girl kitten ever!
So with everything in tip-top shape – correct tip-top shape, tomorrow Robbie begins her new adventure with her loving forever family who has been patiently waiting for their sweet little one to grow a bit more.
Remembering how small these Niblets were just 9 weeks ago, let’s take a look back at our time together with Robbie.
Before there was Robbie, there was Niblet number three.
We learned that Robbie’s a little comic with an endearing ability of making funny faces.
With the biggest, roundest eyes of all the Niblets, Robbie was first at so many things including mastering the cat half meatloaf pose.
The one to always greet us each morning, Robbie quickly became the Ambassador of Cute.
Here we can see how beautiful Robbie is becoming. She’ll be winning hearts over in no time with that look on her face, the look that says, “Might I be yours, please?” Sorry world. She’s taken!
Join us in wishing Robbie the very best in her new life and raise a toast to the first Niblet adventure beyond. Keep requesting your million kisses each day, little girl. You deserve that and more. Be good, play hard and love harder. You are going to a great home!
She won our human’s heart over weeks ago. LOL. Robbie’s a fine name for a girl too–Roberta!
We wish her a long and happy and healthy life in her forever home.
Oh, that’s so pawsome! We love this news. But of course Robbie knew all along that she was a ladykitteh in training.
Oh this post gave me a little giggle. Robbie still works as a girl’s name, and we are glad she already has a home. She is sure a cutie.
We bet Robbie was laughing all the time you thought she was a boy kitten – Mum also had a lady kitten years ago who the vet kindly told her was a man cat and Prudence became William which probably was for the best as he was an intrepid hunter and not many days went by without bringing home a present for her!!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
One less Niblet to love. We are going to be so sad to see her go. Robbie can be a cute girl’s name (short for Roberta purrhaps), but we bet she gets renamed. Bye-bye sweet Robbie. We will really miss you. Have a great life! Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
We agree Robbie is a nice name for your sweet gal too. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
Oh, the mom is getting a little leaky eyed. Robbie…and we think Robbie is a good name for a girlcat…we will miss your cute face. Have fun in your new furever home. You will be the best kitty ever…well, next to us, of course…because you had the best beginnings a kitty could ever ask for. ♥
Robbie, we know you’re going to love your forever home, but we’re sad to see you leave your first home. We know you will always remember your Colehaus buddies and all the fun times. Please stay in touch with us. You are absolutely beautiful and we think it’s so funny you fooled the humans! 🙂

Robbie sounds like a Tomgirl kitty – no wonder you had such a hard time sexing her! Good luck in your new home – we will all miss you lots!
Robbie has been a favorite of mine since the beginning and you know, Robbie is a “girl’s” name too….now….if I only I could stop crying…if I will miss her terribly I can only imagine how YOU feel ((((hugs)))))
We’re happy Robbie’s new family doesn’t care if she’s a boy or girl 😉 Enjoy your new home, sweetie!
She is so sweet. Glad that her family wants her even if she is a girl. This means they love her no matter what. (some might have decided not .. wanting a boy)
When I went to get Riley, my orange boy, at the rescue place, he was advertised as a female. I talked to her. Had a name. Filled out the paperwork and was waiting for the visit and room. Was told as they handed him to me that she was a he and did I still want him. Of course I did. I told him I was in trouble though cause I had said no more boys. I was in love. So was he. He just purred and I was already lost in his orange boy furs.
May all your kittens find good forever homes,
JC

Hello Roberta! You are so precious! I hope you don’t miss your fursibs too much. You won’t have to share the attention.
