This is Quint. Call him what you may, just don’t call him late for dinner. Quint’s an exceptionally good boy who eats mostly canned wet food with a few special diet kibbles set off to the side of his bowl twice a day.

He has a name tag above his personal feeder and unlike another Colehaus cat with a name tag, he has not ripped it down from the wall in an act of rebellion or perhaps, bafflement on why we put it up there in the first place,. Cats can’t read human letters, we assume based not on current known world facts but upon first hand knowledge of the one cat who continues to ignore the “STAY OFF THE COUNTERS” sign posted on the countertop.

Quint’s a tall boy with long legs and tail. He has very soft, bunny-like fur, a strong purr, and likes his ears rubbed and his belly kissed. When he’s not playing with toys or eating, he’s lounging under a blanket fort of his own making. He’s a fairly quiet cat and yet, is a huge presence at Colehaus. Really, there’s nothing quite like snuggling with purring Quint on a cold winter’s day.

03/01/2024 – Kibble Time

Welcome to March. This is Pia. She’s a big, floofy girl with a big attitude and a big presence at Colehaus. Pia spends her days napping and recently, spent days hunting down and eating house ants to supplement what she considered a very meager diet of yukky canned food.

Those ants did not like being eaten, understandably, and Pia had an upset stomach for days. That meager canned food diet, which, in reality, wasn’t meager by any stretch of imagination, went ignored during those days because ants are tastier, apparently.

The ants are gone for the time being, and Mom, who worried herself sick over Pia’s weight loss and lack of enthusiasm for anything, got Pia to eat kibble of which we’re fairly certain is crunchier than ants but maybe not as tasty. We’re not willing to test that theory ourselves. Still, the effort was a win but also a loss. Pia, returning to her food roots, refuses canned wet food and will only eat kibble now. Insert big sigh here as we start over from scratch with her.
