Scruffy, or Scruffs as we call him, is a neighborhood cat that several families look after. He first visited us in 2003 when he was a six month old kitten, learning the ropes of outdoor life. That alarmed us, as it always does, but Scruffy’s owner, a nice older lady, assured us he’d be fine. And it turned out, he was and still is.
Even though his original owner moved to an assisted living home years ago, her daughter who moved to our neighborhood, cares for Scruffs. Scruffs was good friends with old Geoffrey, and now that he’s the old man of the neighborhood, has little use for those young rowdy ones like Momo, Cocoa, or Mustachio. But he always has time for us.
Oh! I hope Scruffy has a home to go inside!
We wish he did but his newish owner isn’t a cat fan. Lucky for all, she isn’t a fan of taking anyone to the pound either. Scruffy gets to spend his years in our neighborhood where he’s happy and looked after by many people.
Oh he is sure handsome. His eyes are very striking.
We are so pleased that Scruffy has a home and is loved.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Scruffy sure is a handsome guy.
He’s a pretty good-looking kidlet! I’m glad he didn’t have to go to a shelter when his original mom had to go elsewhere.
Same here, William. That would have been terrible and terribly unfair. We’re happy he’s still here.
What beautiful floof!
Scruffy is amazingly floofy, and so soft. We think someone brushes him every day.
What a good looking Mancat. We do hope the daughter will consider making him an indoor kitty.
From what we hear, unfortunately, the daughter isn’t a cat fan. However, Scruffy has a huge porch to reside on, both on and under, and many neighbors who watch out for him. If he wasn’t so independent and a sprayer, and you know what we mean by that, we would have taken him in years ago.
I agree with you Whisppy.
Scruffy is very handsome, and does not look “scruffy” at all!

Scruffy seems like a sweetheart.

He’s a very handsome boy! It’s good that the neighborhood looks after him.
aw, Scruffy is a sweetheart 🙂 it is really pawsome he has so many good folks looking out for him. purrs,
Pip, Smidgen, Minnie, Hollie
He’s a handsome man cat. Nice he has a porch and lots of friendly neighbors to look after him. Sometimes that’s the best one can do…
I would take that gorgeous cat out of the not a fan of cats lady’s hands in an instant!! I can see he does get cared for by many but not all people are good. Knowing me I would be afraid for him out on the streets and would make a place in my home for him. Je looks like a mix Maine Coon cat and they are the gentle giants of cat world. My husband and I adopted one and he is the most loyal, mushy lovebug! We adore him as much as he adores us. Scruffy looks the same. A beautiful cat with lots of love to give!
Happy Calendar Cat Day to Tessa on July 3.
Thank you! I almost forgot I’m on tomorrow! *kisses*
Scruffy sure looks well cared for. It’s scary on the streets and I’m glad he has lots of family looking out for him.
Tessa is very cute on the Cats of the CB Calendar today!
What a handsome boy! Thanks for helping to care for him. Is he a sprayer because he’s intact?
Scruffy is not intact. We think his spraying is a habit he picked up living outside. There were a couple of unaltered males around the same cul-de-sac as he lived in as a kitten. All of those males are gone now and of all the outdoor kitties that visit us, Geoffrey’s House, and its daytime food bowl, we haven’t seen any unaltered males. Yippee for that!
Scruffy is handsome, and looks very healthy! Happy Tessa on the Cats of the CB Calendar Day. Woohoo!
He sure is a handsome man cat!
What a truly handsome boy, living the life that suits his independent ways. We are happy so many (including you) keep an eye out for him. Be careful Scruffy! It’s a big world out there 🙂
the critters in the cottage xo
Yay for there being no unaltered males around! And it’s so wonderful that people are banding together to care for him as the neighborhood cat. We do understand about the spraying…!
