From Seth: I wish for my Dad to have a good day all the rest of his days. I wish him all the comfort in the world, as I have given him, as his comfort cat, over the past ten years. I wish him no more worries in life. And I wish that you’ll be kind to him today because today was the day I needed to run over the bridge. Don’t worry. I’m fine but I had to say good-bye. Take care, my friends! Until we meet again….purrs…

Help the Colehaus Cats
I wrote this last year, but never posted it on my blog thing. It seems appropriate here:
A Serious Musing
Today I have been pondering two leggers and their devotion to animals. Now normally I am snide, sarcastic and critical in regards to two legger society in general, but just this once, I’d like to commend them.
Having observed them my entire life, I have reached a conclusion:
Most two leggers are truly selfless when it comes to their four legged companions. They bring us into their homes and their hearts fully knowing that they are setting themselves up for heartache. They are perfectly aware of the fact that they will most likely outlive us. Yet they devote their hearts and souls to our well being knowing that someday they will have to say goodbye to us. They open their homes to us regardless of the probability that we will break their stuff, shred their curtains, cost them a king’s ransom in food and vet bills and occasionally cause them to bleed. They provide us comfort and nourishment.
The only thing they ask in return is a purr, a headbonk, or perhaps a bit of comical behavior.
And then comes the day when it is time for us to cross the bridge and break their hearts. They’ve known since the day they brought us home that the day would come, but for them it always comes too soon. They know that we are moving on to a life without pain. Where we are young again. Where sunbeams are plentiful and troubles are gone. They know that we have lived a life of comfort and happiness since the day they brought us home. That they have provided us with all we ever needed and our lives have been truly enriched by their companionship. They know that we watch over them from the other side of the bridge. But it does little to ease the pain of those we leave behind.
And yet, time after time, after feeling the seemingly incurable loss of a beloved four legger, they turn around and open their hearts to another cycle of love and loss.
Humans have many flaws. But consider this, they are the only creatures who have such a capacity for love that they are perfectly willing to open their hearts to creatures that they know someday will ultimately break those same hearts.
Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Your words are deeply comforting. Thank you.

You know he will miss you and right now he is sad because you are not able to be with him in this world in the physical form, but we know you are in the most important place and that is within his heart. There will reside and help to ease his sadness until he can join you on the Bridge. Until we all meet again my friend. Now I shall go wipe the leaky eyes of my Momma, run free dear Seth.

I am so sorry that Seth crossed over the Bridge. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Seth left a wonderful message for his Daddy. Seth is doing fine–yet I know tears fall and whiskers may droop for now. For a while, and that’s OK. Seth knows you love him so. I am sure–and since I’m a cat, and know things–there will be a time (if it hasn’t happen already) when the house is so quiet you will hear something. Not sure what the soft sound is. Then you will smile, because it is a familiar purr….
Prayers and purrs from our house to yours.
