We made a change in our kitchen a couple of weeks ago, a change it’ll take time to get used to. We got rid of our kitchen table, the legs of which had become scratching posts for a certain ginger girl. No amount of scolding and squirts of water could break her habit, regardless of the perfectly good scratching post located 3 feet away. Or a mile and a half in cat distance.
The chairs had been falling apart for a long time. The pleather seat covers had worn through and the stuffing within turned out to be little green plastic pellets that Mom vacuumed out upon discovery to keep a certain cat from mistaking those for green ants.
Dad liked the table and chairs because it was counter-height, or in reality, it was Dad’s height because Dad is very tall. Someone else liked it, too; not because it was tall but because she liked having an entire seat to herself while making biscuits on those chair covers that didn’t really solve much of anything.
Of course, we told Viola the table and chair set was going away so she could spend a last day on her favorite chair.

Just wait until she finds out our “new” kitchen table is her island!

So good of your folks to do this for you!
Purrs Winnie
Aww, c’mon!
We’d like to see the chair legs whittled down to toothpicks!
I am sure Viola will soon get used to stretching out on her new island.
Couldn’t she keep her chair? 🙂
No. The chair was . . . stinky. We think that’s why she liked it.
Darn. If the table was still standing, even precariously, it’s still fine. Right, Viola and Pia?
Sometimes change is hard.
I (Binq) have a habit of scratching on our wood cabinets. Yeah there are places TBT would rather I did that.
