Wait, what’s that title say? Waning? What’s waning?
Waning means to decline or diminish or dwindle. The title is Waning Wednesday because this is the last Wednesday of this year and it’s already dwindling away.
You mean we’ll be declining Wednesdays from now on?
No, little one. This is the last Wednesday of THIS year. Another Wednesday will come around next week when we’ll be in the new year. That will be the first Wednesday of the new year.
So, when we go into the new year, and the first Wednesday is in there with us, will there be room for all the other Wednesdays? How about all the Fridays? Won’t it be crowded? I don’t like being crowded, Mom. This sounds confusing.
It won’t be crowded, Viola. It’ll feel just like it does now. You won’t even notice.
I’ll notice the Mondays. Do the Mondays have to be in the new year, Mom? Can’t they find some other year to be in? Can we make Mondays waning too? What about Thursdays? I like Thursdays. And weekend days. I like those too. Tuesdays are okay, I guess. They might fit, right, Mom? Should we make room for Tuesdays, because I can take ’em or leave ’em but Thursdays, did I mention I like Thursdays…?
* sigh * Now we’re confused.
