The aftermath of Christmas isn’t too bad around our house this year. For the sixth year running, our twelve-foot, pre-lit Christmas tree remained safely slumbering in its box in a closet along with dozens of appropriately-sized and intact ornaments. The mantle, chandeliers, and buffet decorated stylishly for 2017 with a light hand requires minimal attention to transition from holiday time to deep winter. For a radical change, Mom’s pulling up the darkly traditional living room rug and replacing it with something lighter and smaller for 2018.
See? We told you Mom was itching to start early, early, EARLY spring cleaning! She’s gets crazy sometimes.
So, while she’s scrubbing seventeen years of compressed rug protector marks off the laminate flooring, the ginger girls are still discussing to whom, exactly, the beautiful jigsaw fabric blanket belongs.
Pia Bean lets everyone within two blocks know she’s the more deserving, being as she’s fluffy and cute and Mom loves her even if she’s a bit of a diva.
Older, wiser, and smarter sister Sunny knows she doesn’t have to say a thing. After all, possession is nine tenths of the law.
If we had to pick sides on whose blanket it really belongs to…. well, we’d pick not to pick because cat parents can get away with choices like that.

And in case we’d thought all the gifts were already handed out, Sunny came down with a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Christmas Day evening. Always trying to be prepared, Mom had a dose and a half of Veraflox left (Sunny doesn’t respond at all to Clavamox) to help Sunny feel more comfortable until her vet visit yesterday morning… in which Mom had to learn fast how to drive a new car slowly on ice. “Whew boy! That’ll wake a person up!” she said. “Was that invigorating to say the least!”
We’ll know later today what course of treatment Sunny will need going forward and it’s probably a good time to sign up to learn how to give her sub-q fluids, though she’ll need some kind of medication for anyone to be able to do that without losing fingers. We’ll figure it out.

Oh, Sunny, that’s really not the kind of gift anyone wants. And now since you are sick, you have to be the clear winner for the little mat.
We agree with this comment ^^^. Sunny should get the blanket because she had to go to the vet.
We’re sending Sunny lots of healing purrs.
Oh dear, good thing the Mom is such a good and experienced catmom.
We hope the lessons go well – it is a useful skill! But most of all, we hope Sunny won’t need the treatment and will be better soon.

Time share, ginger ladies!
Well, that wasn’t a very nice gift for Sunny. We hope she’s feeling better real soon. And the mom says if your mom gets finished cleaning and is itching to do more…send her our way!
Hmmm, just buy another blankie. Sounds easy to me. Sunny might need to recouperate on this one.
Sending good thoughts for Sunny. I agree, she deserves the blanket to help make up for her vet visit.
Sendin purrs to Sunny!
Poor Sunny, that is not a good gift. I am glad your mom is so prepared. Looks like I better make more mats 🙂
Sending purrs to Sunny! We think there needs to be more blankets in your house pronto!
Poor Sunny! Yes, we think you get the mat, since you’re not feeling well. Big purrs and prayers.
Poor Sunny ! We send you tons of purrs, and hope you feel better soon. We think the mat will help you to recover. Purrs
Sunny, I hope hope hope that the news is good. xxx
Poor, Sunny. We sure hope she is feeling better and getting better. We kitties always seem to decide to get sick on a Sunday or holiday. Usually when one of us decides something is exclusively ours, everyone else stays away. Maybe the girls will nicely share.
