Maybe we’re jumping the gun a bit here but the weekend is nearly upon us and we’re just so excited for that special day that follows this weekend – Christmas Day!
And what’s just as exciting for us is to revisit the memory of a very, very special Christmas miracle we ourselves witnessed back in 2013. It seems all the more special for us this year, having helped the strays Teese and Mac find their forever homes with the donations and support of you, the Friends of Colehaus.
This memory has become a Colehaus family tradition here and we hope you’ll enjoy reading it, too. Before we dive in, let us wish you all a very Merry Christmas. May this time be special and memorable to you and your families, full of happiness, joy, and the wonder of the season.

A little rhyme runs through our heads at this time of year, every year:
We wish we may,
we wish we might,
help find homes for all this night.
And one year, we saw it happen.
Back in December of 2013, while interviewing potential Niblet forever families at our local Petco, a sweet, jolly man sat upon a chair seemingly meant for him and someone handed him a kitten, one of a very large group of kittens our area had that year.
And then, something magical happened.
That kitten found a forever home that day. And the next kitten the jolly man held did too. And the next. And so on and so on throughout the day. And the senior cats brought to the event found their forever families too. These forever families, they weren’t your average “Hey, we’re at Petco and since we’re buying dog food anyway, let’s adopt a kitten for Christmas, too” Petco shoppers but a string of very vetted families who came in, independently of one another, to see cats and kittens they had been following online through the shelter and through word of mouth, and don’t you know, every one of those cats and kittens found the best of homes that day. *happy sigh*
May we all open our hearts and homes to those who need love, not just for a day but for all of forever.

What a wonderful memory – I’m wishing very hard for all the cats and kittens to find their homes soon.
We love that picture of Sunny with the lights … inquiring minds want to know if she was just humoring you while posing for a few minutes … or if those lights are in trouble! Merry Christmas to all of you. We are very fortunate to have such wonderful friends – with a real heart for animal rescue.
Sunny humors us often by posing for photos. She’s very laid back and seems to know whatever we put on her – lights, toys, a tiny hat – won’t last long. And if it does, she lets us know by whapping her tail, hard, against the floor. Wishing you and all your loved ones a very Merry Christmas!

What could be better than bein adopted by Sandy Claws?
This is a totally awesome story!! It’s THE BEST to watch kitties get adopted out of cages. I know they are safe and well cared for, but it shouldn’t be for long that they find themselves caged up. They go to their homes and make room for the next batch to come in off the street or out of unhealthy situations, and start the happy process of clearing the cages again! Thank you for reminding us that there are lots of reasons to celebrate this season!! Happy and merry to you and the Crew!!!
