There are cats in this photos. Yes, cats, as in more than one. On any given day, this is what our downstairs looks like. Often people say to us (people who have never visited), “You have how many cats?? Eight? Good grief, why would anyone in their right mind do that?” And you know they’re thinking we’re crazy cat people who are up to our earlobes in matted fur and can’t walk more than a foot or two without stepping on meowing, half-starved cats begging for attention, fresh litter, and/or hey, what is that on your plate and can I have some?
Well, no. That’s not at all what it’s like here. We vacuum once, sometimes twice a week. There are few upholstered pieces to collect fur onto. Everyone has their favorite spots and rooms depending on time of day, time of year, and the angle of the sun, and honestly, it never feels like there are eight cats here. You’ll have to trust us on this, we understand, but it’s true. We’re lucky and very thankful everyone here (mostly) gets along. They are all keepers. They are our family.
Yes, there are cats in this photo. Maybe not eight, or six, or even half, but family members none the less. And we didn’t even vacuum before taking this picture!
(Answer: Two. Pia in the kitchen window watching squirrels. Viola on the back of the loveseat watching the cameramom. Not seen in the photo is Quint in the box next to the kitchen table and Tessa trying to open the kitchen pantry door.)
We bet you would have liked to play with the squirrels Pia.

What a beautiful home you all share!
It’s so rare and wonderful that 8 get along like that. Us four like to hiss and spat and drive the Mommy crazy. MOL!
We think you have a wonderful home! You have so many neat places for naps. We sometimes turn our house into a race track and Mom has to remind us that it is a house. What fun is that?
I completely understand. When I tell people I have 14 cats they act like I am dirty or crazy, but when people come to the house they say they can’t even tell we have cats because it doesn’t smell. I do tell people to wear black at their own risk 🙂
When people come over to our house they usually think there are only 2 cats because Boodie never shows up for strangers. But I will just say, from the plethora of cat toys, even if none of us showed up, people would know there were cats here… and they might think there are more than 3!
When people come to visit the house and we’re not downstairs, they ask our peeps to call us so that they can see us!

It is strange what people believe about cats. My ex-husband used to think they were “stinky.” Of course, any animal is stinky if you don’t clean up after it!
If only! Our two indoor kitties seem awfully lonely in our house; I’d get about six more, if I could. Once I’m home 24/7 after retirement, The Hubby had better look out…
Weez never fawt dat. But dat’s just us. Mommy lived in a 300 sq.ft. pawrtment once and was fosterin’ 33 kittens and had 3 of hers own, so weez not worry ’bout such fings as we know it can be easily managed.

We are glad there are 2 kitties as that was all we could see 🙂
There are 4 of us and mom never trips unless she is carrying our dinner
bowls that are ready to serve 😉
We don’t actually trip her, we just stick close, heehee

We saw the two cats in the photo. Some people just don’t understand how easy cats can be. 🙂
People sometimes look at da mommas like dey’re nutsos when buying cat food – and there’s only 3 of us!
We understand. If you have multiple cats, especially three or more, that seems to make people think your house is unlivable and scary… quite the opposite. Humans are narrow-minded, sadly!
Yay, I did spot the two. I am a window looking cat too.
