This is going to be a long, long week for Mom who is training new people at work, starting a transition to another department, trying to find a contractor to fix the big hole in our living room ceiling from the bathroom shower leak, and fighting with a business who’s name might rhyme with Home Depot about some window blind installations that were supposed to happen before Thanksgiving.
She’s also a little stressed about some overheard holiday plant shutdown news at her job for later in December. Sounds like no one’s getting paid for those ten-to-twelve days off because vacation time accrual is painfully slow and small for the manufacturer specialists, meaning that the forty hours vacation time per year promised upon hiring refers more to one’s second year of employment. It’s virtually impossible to accrue forty hours of vacation time in a single year. And if one doesn’t work because the plant is shut down, no vacation time can be accrued then, either. Merry Christmas from Mom’s employer.
But hey! That’ll be ten-to-twelve days off and knowing Mom, she’ll finally finish painting those two and a quarter rooms she has left, because she has lots of leftover paint. She might write up lots of cat blog posts. She might finish her “fall” cleanup outside. And did she tell you about that great bathroom we got back this year?
We know you’ll be supportive of Mom during this rough week and at the end of next month, right Tessa? We’re sure you’ll be the perfect kitty in all things. Perfect jumping up on the kitchen counter. Perfect getting along with others. And getting into Viola’s personal feeder, why, perfect-o, right?

We hope there is only good news for your meowmy, Tessa, on the work front.
Sending lots of purrs and positive thoughts! That’s some really stressful stuff.
I am sorry about your mom’s work. That is not very nice of them to treat employees that way. XO
Purrs for your mom, hope things work out well for her in all of those areas! yikes!
Employers nowadays don’t seem to worry about their workforce. I hope everything works out okay for your mom.
What a horrible thing that your mom’s workplace is doing. They obviously don’t think of how these decisions affect their employees. 🙁
