While we’ve been waiting for a contractor to show some kind of interest in getting our upstairs main bathroom back into some semblance of functionality (since early March) we had moved all the living room furniture off to one side of the room so as to keep the ratty couch and loveseat and a big rug away from the possibility of being dripped on, or insulation or drywall bits falling down from the big opening in the ceiling.
This did not sit terribly well with the cats. They dislike change in routine, particularly orange cats who really don’t like routine disruption. Quint has probably given us his airplane ears of distain for some seven months now; we don’t know exactly how long because we’ve been ignoring his gripes. There’s nothing we can do about any of it anytime soon. We all just have to wait, and so does Quint.
And then there’s Tessa, who would have you believe none of this bothers her, and surely, that isn’t her hiding alongside her brother in his bedroom blanket fort when some subcontractor stops by to measure this and that for the umpteenth time. No, not Tessa.
Our news is that finally, we’re about to see progress made on restoring our main bathroom. Mom was told what items to purchase and have ready for workers to begin as soon as mid-September.
Viola, we see you trying to hide that look of skepticism. It could happen.

And then, as Viola would have it, work will not begin next week as one of the needed parts ordered, the most important of all needed parts to begin work, has been delayed due to damage. Cue the back and forth email/phone tag as to how to get an undamaged part sent to us pronto! Argh!
See Mom? This is why you shouldn’t get so excited at the possibility of any forward movement in this project!

Despite all this delay, and skepticism, we’re sending a BIG Thank YOU to a dear Friend of Colehaus who keeps in touch and keeps Mom focused on the bigger picture: Caring and kindness are everything.

We hope your bathroom gets finished someday!! It’s so frustrating to have projects go on so long.
I hope that damaged part gets replaced ASAP and work can get under way at long last.
Fingers crossed they will get there this month.
Inch by inch, the progress continues.
Da Boyz would be trying to rip the ceiling down, so you’ve got that going for you.
Those house projects can be SUCH a pain and take forever! We have a couple pending here too.
I hope all your renovation work is finished soon. As a ginger cat myself, I know how unsettling all these shenanigans can be!
Darn it. We are so sorry that the progress is so slow. But it IS progress. We have our fingers and paws crossed!
My gosh, this is quite the adventure you’ve been on. Here’s hoping you can continue to move forward, even if it’s slowly.
