We didn’t give Pia a haircut this summer; we didn’t need to. Oh, it was hot, all righty. Very hot and we lost our air conditioner/heat pump for over a week, too. What seemed to make all the difference in the world is that Pia has been eating wet food over her beloved dry kibble for almost a year and that alone, seemed to thin her thick fur and eliminate the even-thicker undercoat she amassed year-round.
And, she doesn’t mind brushies like she used to. Something about not needing to pull at her ever-matting undercoat, we guess, made all the difference in the world. She’s a happier, much cooler girl now.
That said, we still have awesome clippers so, if the need arises . . .
Oh, Mom, don’t even tease about that!

I am glad Pia is benefitting from forcing that evil wet food down!
Yay for Pia!
Curious; how did your transition her from kibble to wet food?
Recall that some of the tricks that worked for us didn’t work for Pia, so I want to know for any future cat.
Well, it took an entire year of trying, and she seemed to only like to lick the gravy, then, she had a week long upset tummy that brought her around. She’s a master bug hunter and we think it was her traditional once a year spider feast that changed her mind. Strongly NOT a recommended path to wet food enlightenment.
You look great Pia. XO
Interesting! I wonder if kibble is the reason Mudpie’s fur is so thick!
Yay for you, beautiful Pia! XO
