Mom, it’s hot. I think it’s time you do something about it.
You know what that means, Pia. Are you ready for that?
Do I have a choice?
Well, not really. Let’s get this over with. We’ll go fast.
And so we did, with minimal yowling and no hissing or biting. Mom zipped through fur with her trusty clipper and removed a few neck pre-mats along the way, and at the end of the 20-minute ordeal, Mom wore more fur than Pia had left. Pia is much happier, and cooler and our washing machine got a good workout. Coming out of a few weeks of hot weather, this really was the best time for Pia’s haircut.
Pia showing off her uneven haircut side. Within three days, her short cut fur evened out to something similar to velour. She loves the extra attention she gets when she’s not shedding kitten-sized hunks of fur.
After all that, Viola woke from her sixth afternoon nap and was a bit startled when Pia came downstairs.
Who’s that? Did we get a new cat?
Everyone had to take a sniff at Pia sporting her new fur-do. She let everyone know that wasn’t at all appreciated and so, life returned to normal pretty quickly, minus a bit of fur.

Why, aren’t you stylin’ now, Pia!
Like you are wearing a shrug sweater.
The others are just jealous, darling.
Dearest Carole and Steve,
All I can say is WOW!
What a different fur–do for Pia and you are very brave for doing this!
Guess it made her feel so much better and she let you do this swiftly.
Viola’s face is priceless—who is that?!
Big hugs,
Mariette + Kitties
I wish I could do that to Tuffy, but he won’t even let me pet him.
Viola’s face is priceless! MOL
We used to have to do that with Mikey. It really is the best way.
Looking good with that summer ‘do, Pia!
That must feel so much better, Pia.
