So… as we understand it, our Mom’s been complaining a lot about us being skerred of all the boomie things outside for the 4th of July holiday (a holiday for what? boomie things??). What’s a bunch of cats to do? Hide under the bed? Already done that. Already counted all the dust bunnies AND given them names. Some have become livelong friends!
And then, just when we thought our lives would remain miserable with all the noise going on, our Mom forced us to like her even more than we already did because…

It’s big and snuggly and all of us can easily fit in there. We’re not in our fort right now because we’re lounging elsewhere, taking in the peacefulness that’s surely to be dashed away soon by loud booms. But we can hardly wait to race inside. Soon, our Mom assures us. Soon!
Mom stocked our fort with all kinds of things: A flashlight and books for reading because we like it when Mom reads to us. “The Stray Cat Handbook,” “I am the Cat, Don’t Forget That,” “Rescued: The Stories of 12 Cats, Through Their Eyes (our personal favorite),” “All My Patients Are Under The Bed,” “The Good, the Bad, and the Furry,” “The Itty Bitty, Kitty Committee,” “Kittens on Vacation,” and “I Can Pee On That.”
Yes, they are all cat-themed books. And… your point?

She also put all our best loved toys in there – all kinds of mousies, milk jug rings, kicksticks with silvervine and nip inside, our Molly doll, Tickle Pickles, even a feather or two! – and two ham-micks and some comfy blankets and a box with crinkly paper inside and even a bag of Greenie treats! What’s a fort without treats? A boring fort, that’s what kind.

How cool you get your own fort! The boomies come later, and mum will shut the windows and doors to keep the sound down. Maybe turn on the moving picture box as well. Thankfully our little area is usually quiet and those that do set off local boomies end early so we can all sleep in peace and quiet.
What an awesome idea! None of us hide with the fireworks noise because it’s not happening that close by, but your fort looks really handy, especially if you have some neighborhood fireworks nuts.
ALL the fireworks nuts live near us, some right across the street! Next year, we’re hoping for less noise and damage because of a new law that, unfortunately, only affects the nearby incorporated area. We can hope, though!
Your Mom is a Queen!!! You should all be super nice to her for a few days now. She rocks! She made all of you the coolest fort ever!!! We hope you are able to get through this noisy holiday. Enjoy your treats! Happy Fourth to all of you from all of us. 🙂

NJ is one of 3 states where private fireworks are banned. We here a few but not many. Tonight is it doesn’t rain, the peeps will go out to watch the Macy’s show but that’s only loud outside. Have a happy and safe Independence Day.
