Our sunshine is not as bright today. Sunny has run across the Bridge to the forever Summerlands beyond, where, undoubtedly, friends and family met her arrival with purrs and head bonks, where the sun always shines, where the temperatures are always just right, and treats are plenty. We knew this time was coming, every second so precious knowing the next could be the last. She was so worn and tired, kidney disease being so cruel, yet she had saved enough to let us know it was time to go.
We feel so honored to have been allowed to foster Sunny, then called Itty a.k.a. Miss Itty, before she agreed to become a full Colehaus Cat. Those early months were rough given all the medication she required for her near-constant ear infections and urinary tract infections, not to mention learning a new home with new cats and humans to interact with at the same time. Through her kidney disease diagnosis, multiple medications, dietary restrictions and changes, surgery to remove a cyst on her back, and a good dental cleaning, she taught us that cats deemed as unadoptable can and should be adopted because the rewards in purrs alone are so worth every step along the journey. She taught us love conquers all.

We thank everyone who donated money or bought Quint’s Sunflower paintings over the last two and half years to help with Sunny’s extensive medical costs. All her bills were paid with a little left over, saved for any further costs, including the inevitable day like today. You helped give Sunny the very best life she could have ever wanted, and allowed us to spend that much more time caring for her and falling so deeply in love with her. Thank you.

Sunny, you gave so much love. Your presence will always be felt at Colehaus. It’s hard on your humans now but please tell them that we are all sending purrs, head bumps and hugs their way.
