For all the fireworks going on outside, you’d think today was 4th of July. And you’d think everyone is off work today for the sole purpose of loudly celebrating the 3rd of July, which is just silly. Lots and lots of hard-earned money being blown to bits out there.
Time to put together our annual 4th of July fort under the bed where Mom will snuggle with kitties and read them fun books like “I am not a skunk” by Ellen of 15andmeowing.com. This is Tessa’s favorite book and insists Mom read it over and over!

We love that book too. Goodness we are just having a few boomies but the big day is coming and then we had thunder last night. Sheesh whats a cat to do except snuggle
Here in Michigan, the laws were changed to limit the use of fireworks before and after July 4th, and we’ve noticed the difference. Da Boyz aren’t too concerned, but Angel freaks out, and of course I worry about The ‘O’ Cats. Big displays at a city park aren’t the problem; it’s the random neighbor who starts blasting stuff just as we climb into bed for the night.
We hate boomies too! And in addition to firework boomies, we’ve had a lot of storm boomies too. Scary! Can we join you in your tent?
I’m no fan of fireworks either.

Thank you for the shout out on Emmy’s book. Tessa, you are such a sweetie. I am glad you like it. Here’s to a quiet 4th! I know that won’t happen here as all my neighbors went to NH and bought fireworks. They are illegal for private use in Mass., but that doesn’t stop anyone because it is only $100 fine if caught so the police do nothing.
Mom got out the Thundershirt just in case Noelle starts to get upset. We don’t like loud boomies.

We are far from any sanctioned boomies, but sometimes neighbors fire one up and we get a little rattled.
We’re not fans of the boomies either. There’s supposed to be some tomorrow night and we’re hoping that in our new house, we won’t hear them as much as before.
Your 4th of July is like our November the 5th. Bonfire night and packed wall to wall with idiots setting off fireworks.
Mum likes the big displays (you know, the ones that cost so much yu would NEVER pay back the firework loan!) they are much better!

I’m sorry you guys have to put up with that noise. Up on the 4th floor, we don’t hear anything except those huge ones NYC shoots off a few times a year and they don’t bother me. TW’s oohs and aahs do while she watching them so I bite her heels.
Mum is home during the boomer times. Keeps the lights on and the TV so there is noise inside the house to mask the outside noise.
We are big fans of Miss Ellen’s books, too! Sorry you have to deal with all those boomies. Our town fireworks were tonight … thanks Cod they are over!
I’m so glad the fireworks are minimal in our area (which is a fire zone – and people do take that seriously here). Over the hill from us… that’s a different story!
Tessa, me too! Mom was singing to me last night and I kept looking at her like…what?? But tat would be preferable to the boomies.
We’re hopin’ and purrin’ for a quiet(er) 4th, but we suspect if the weather is dry we’ll get lots of boomies!
