06/28/2024 – Endings and Beginnings

Please say Welcome to the Twins. These two raccoons hung around our place all winter long, always coming and leaving together, meaning both are female and probably siblings. One looks like she’s been nursing kits while the other, a bit smaller than her sister, isn’t. She’s the auntie and as they do, will help raise the first litter we’ll see for 2024. We’re waiting to hear the kits any day now. Oh, what fun they’ll have in our backyard! Let’s hope no one takes offense to an outdoor chair pillow this year and rips the stuffing out of it.

Say good bye to our toasted, dead microwave sitting on top of a feeding station. It’s slated for recycling today and its replacement will be coming soon after.

And all this time, we’ve been calling him MewMew (Mr. MewMew to us)! Turns out, his name is Kiki (Kee-Kee). Well, we might call him Kiki here and there, but he’ll always be Mr. MewMew to us. Hey, you come into our yard and eat our catnip treats? You get called whatever name we give you.

Well, this is the big weekend when Mr. G’s family is slated to move out and head back to Idaho. We and a few neighbors are sick-to-our-stomachs anxious wondering if they’ll take Mr. G or not. None of us want to think he’d be left behind or dumped at a shelter heading out of town, but if that were a possibility, we’d hope his parents would call us or come talk to us first, especially since they have our number, know where we live, and Mom physically talked to them a few weeks ago at their house.

Only time will tell and though we’ll miss him and his brother Jacks terribly and we wish for them a happy new adventure filled with new friends and new gardens to explore, we hope not to see a vacant house Monday morning and Mr. G sitting in our backyard as usual.

Good bye sweet boy. May you always make more friends who will look out for you wherever you go.

I have been hoping the neighbors would agree to leave them with someone in the hood instead of making them move. XO

  4. Dearest Colehause Cats,
Indeed, a questionable weekend will unfold…
Hoping the very best for Mr. G and Jacks!
My niece who visited me earlier in June, found two small kitties—dumped by some heartless human. She is syringe feeding the tiny girl but its brother lay dead beside her. So sad to leave such innocent lives in the elements to fend for themselves when they’re too little to do so.
One way or another they will have to face our final Judge for answering a lot of questions…
    Hugs,
    Mariette + Kitties

  5. We hope Mr. G and Jack are okay.

  6. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

  7. mochasmysteriesandmeows says:

You have the cutest visitors to your yard. Purrs for sweet Mr.G and Jacks.

  8. meowmeowmans says:

We love all the visitors that come by your place. We are purring and praying for only the very best things for Mr. G and Jacks. XO

  9. I wonder what the pillow did? I hope none cause offense this year and hope you enjoy the raccoon kits.

You’re right, if a cat comes in your yard for treats, you may call him what you wish.

Please, please, family next door, take Mr. G and Jacks!
