While we had workers here earlier in the week, this floofy girl hid under the blankets like Quint does, making her own fort for the day. After the workers left, this ginger girl had all kinds of opinions about the noise. More so than when she gets her hair cut for the summer, an event that usually happens around this time of year, and something she complains about at the top of her lungs during Mom’s attempt to not do too badly of a job.
Lucky for Pia, the workers won’t be returning for a month or so, and it’s been so cool and wet, no artistic statement will be attempted with clippers, Pia, and her fur for at least another few days. Also lucky for her, Mom can’t get to the cabinet where the clippers are kept because half our lives are crammed in the Cat Den where all cat things usually reside, and that cabinet is buried behind all that stuff. You do know cats have a lot of stuff, right?
On the other side and in his usual daytime fort, workers visiting or no, Quint’s only opinion was the occasional small mew of displeasure to our reassurances that all would be over soon.
Later, Olivia didn’t offer a peep on the ruckus. She didn’t have to. Her non-amusement glare was very clear.
Downstairs, and during the workers’ visit and noise, Viola lounged on a fleecy blanket, seemingly without a care or worry in the world. Viola has always been a very brave girl, as her mama raised her to be. When asked for an opinion on the thumping and pounding upstairs, she slow blinked her eyes and sighed. We took that as a no comment.
And in the kitchen, Tessa made it all too easy to gauge her opinion. It’s pretty much the same for everything.
We have a floor now in that once flooded spare room, but we’re not moving things back in just yet. Mom remembered way too late that she should have painted in there long before the floor was put in. Working overtime almost every week didn’t help, time-wise, but the extra $63.24 per paycheck is nice for the savings account! This is a big room with a vaulted ceiling and now, with the new laminate, Mom will have to be extra careful to use lots of plastic sheeting when she has a moment to breathe and get out the brush and rollers (Mom hates plastic sheeting).
When we decided to not replace the soaked and ruined twenty-three year old teal carpet (Teal! What were we thinking??) and go with laminate flooring like the rest of our house has, we knew we’d never match the existing color. That color was discontinued back in 2003. We were okay with this but knew we didn’t want a stark contrast by going with an obvious darker color. We’re light floor color people and were pleased to find something somewhat similar and with texture, and discovering it was being discontinued, with limited supply left, and at a good price sweetened the deal. Needless to say, we’re terribly happy with it. Finally, a first step in getting back to whatever goes for normal nowadays!

Looks great!!
So glad that things are now getting underway. The new flooring looks great.
Slowly, things are happening!
The wonderful thing about cats is, once the ruckus is over, they’ll forgive and forget that their lives had a brief plot twist.
Glad to see progress being made! I’m not a fan of strange workers in the house either. ~Ernie
I like the new floor. Sorry you kitties ( and humans) had to endure so much though .XO
Well, hooray for some real progress (even though it meant all those strangers in the house, kitties!). Your new flooring looks so good. 🙂
