Last week, I was mean to my brother Quint. Normally, I wouldn’t give a small meow about being mean. If someone gets up in my face, or sniff inappropriately, I am going to tell them what I think. And I did just that.
But now that time has passed and I’ve had time to think more about it . . .
. . . I wonder if that wasn’t the right thing to do. Brother are annoying, sticking their nose in other’s businesses, getting extra attention because the only boy cat here . . . wait a minute. He’s the only boy cat. He’s my brother but he’s my only brother. It could be worse. I could have ten brothers! Yikes! I don’t want to think about that!
Mom says it’s highly likely Quint will always be my only brother. So, I won’t have nine more brothers? What if, suddenly, Dad brings home six other brothers, or five, or three. Saying anything is “highly likely” isn’t the same as saying definitely positively for sure and certain. Am I going to have to be on guard constantly in the off chance, another brother shows up out of the blue?
Pia, you’re not getting another brother, or another sister for that matter. Stop fretting over something that isn’t going to happen. Go relax and enjoy life with just one brother.
Can’t hear you now, Mom. I’m thinking and watching out for just my one brother.

Don’t strain yourself, Pia.
Quint has already forgotten about it.
Don’t worry Pia, Quint is your one and only brother. Maybe you should appreciate him more.
You are lucky to have such a good brother. XO
Well, if you have to have a brother, you’re lucky to have an awesome one like Quint, Pia.
