Back in 2013, when Zuzu was Mama Zuzu to her litter, the Niblets, we bought the kittens a small plastic trackball ring. We had no idea what a hit it would become. Not so much with the kittens, though baby Viola liked it on and off…
… but with Zuzu herself. That little Ring o’ Fun was never far from sight.
We thought the little ring was too small for Zuzu and bought her a bigger Ring o’ Fun. She liked it, but baby Russell LOVED it, so much so, when he went to his forever home, we sent the bigger ring along with him. We only regret not having a photo of baby Russell playing with his Ring o’ Fun before he left. Adorbs!
Back in November of last year, we ordered an orange triple tier trackball Ring o’ Fun (our name for it, not the official name of which we may have forgotten) for Zuzu for Christmas and wouldn’t you know, that thing sold out practically before they even manufactured them?
Zuzu didn’t get her triple tier Ring o’ Fun for Christmas but every so often we receive an email telling us that triple tier Ring o’ Fun is still on backorder and wouldn’t we rather want to buy a similar one from someone else for twice or maybe, three times the original offering price?
Now, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who could say, in all honesty, we wouldn’t go the extra mile to buy stuff for our cats but in this case and for that price… uh, no.
Then, Dad found a really cool scratchy Ring o’ Fun when he was perusing Amazon last month and because it was an exceptionally good price, Home Accountant Mom approved the purchase and Zuzu got a new, bigger Ring o’ Fun.
Zuzu seemed to know right away it was hers. Or maybe she really understands English when Mom said, “Zuzu, this is yours.” It has a cardboard scratchy insert and a white contrasting ball in the bright, deep pink track. And we think she likes everyone to watch her when she plays with it.
And though she’s okay with letting everyone else play with it…
… she’s the only one who sleeps on it. Good call, Dad. Zuzu LOVES it!

Thank you for your comments and suggestions regarding Mom’s kitty photo boards she created last week. She hasn’t made a decision on what to do with them at the moment, other than to just enjoy her creations. Thank you!
And here’s another batch she made:
I’ve considered getting on track-ball thingy, but have always talked myself out of it. Maybe it’s time to cough up the green papers and do the thing, after seeing how delighted Zuzu is with hers! I really like your photoboards!
we have the smaller track ball and every litter of kittens has LOVED it – best money spent. love seeing Zuzu relaxed and having fun with her new pink ring 🙂
Balls in rings–we never seem to get tired of ours. The small blue one like yours still gets whacked.
LOVE those kitty boards!!!!!! Cody has that same ring and LOVES it!
Those ring toys are really a hit with Zuzu – I’m glad she got a new one. They aren’t that big a deal here, even though we have several – we prefer the humans as playthings.
My human says the photo of Olivia would make a GREAT painting! With all the photo apps around these days, you could probably turn it into one pretty easily.
We love the flashbacks and OMCs the boards are so pretty
Hugs madi your bfff
Zuzu is so cute with that toy!
There are few things in life better than watching your cat go nuts over a toy you bought them. We have a small ring like yours and Bear hasn’t touched it. A few years ago, I got him a turbo track (you can configure it 8 different ways … but I left it in the figure 8 configuration), and besides a whack or two at the ball, he’s ignored that too. I feel like I always say this … but your photographs are stunning. And the one of sleepy Zuzu on the ring just takes the tuna 🙂
guyz…ya dinna heer thiz frum uz but if ya add two or three mor trax ballz two de trax they make a swell sound in de earl lee morn hourz !! N yur foto boardz R AWESUM….troo lee……mom did a soooper grate job; R they de same size az starry nite ? ♥♥ 🙂
Oh, we know about the coolio middle of the night/early morning sound. And we’re tickled pink knowing that for as much as our Mom swears she’s going to take that track toy out of the bedroom, she never does. Yep, our Mom’s a slacker and we love her for it. Thank you for mentioning our photo boards. They are bigger than the starry night paintings by two inches all around, but they still fit on the easels. The photo boards are 6 inch by 6 inch. Starry night paintings were 4 inch by 4 inch.
We have two of these things we call the mousie go rounds. We have had the older one for 17 years and they have stripped the mousie of it’s fur but they still love it. All of our cats and the foster kittens play with them. Best toy I ever bought.
One of the best feelings is from watching our kitties thoroughly enjoy something we give them. Bear has the small ring and has never played with it. A couple years ago, I got him the turbo track with 8 different configurations … and besides whacking the ball a few times, he hasn’t touched it either. I probably say this every time, but your photography is truly exceptional. You do an incredible job of capturing your cats’ personalities. And that picture of Zuzu sleeping on the track takes the tuna!
Your new photo boards are just lovely. I especially love Sunny’s and the cherries ones. We have one of those scratchy rings and Sadie loves it.
It’s so great seeing Zuzu playing with the rings. We have a couple of those and rarely play with them anymore.
We love your boards…just gorgeous photos!
We’re so glad that Miss Z has something that she luffs so much.
Those photo boards turned out gorgeous! All my cats through the years have loved those rings but I’ve never had one sleep on top! Too cute 🙂
I love the photo boards. And I am glad Zuzu us having fun with her track.
Zuzu, I have a ring thingie just like your new one and the price was right. I won it! MOL! Love those photo boards. Maybe you could open a Etsy shop.
Zuzu seems to love playing with the rings – we hope that Viola will enjoy playing with them too.
Those rings are real popular with the kitties at the shelter, too! Zuzu, we love that you love them so much. 🙂
LOVE those boards. You should open a shop!
We have a turbo ring toy at our house and the most fascinating aspect of it is that it’s always been a hit with my senior kitties (Zee now, and Jazz back when he was still with us). Zee loves to use the scratching pad and when he’s not playing with the toy, often he’ll be snoozing on top of it like Zuzu! Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey gang
Às vezes parece que os gatos realmente entendem tudo que falamos. hihi
Divirta-se Zuzu!!!
