Impatient for direct sunshine to filter into her own luxury master suite, Ruby decided to go on walkabout to the Cat Den across the hall to investigate. Looks like she found what she was looking for.
Because of the position of our home, direct sun doesn’t shine in her bedroom until mid-May at the earliest, and even then, we usually have more rainy, cloudy weather to get through until June when the sun really shines. It’ll be smooth, sunny weather from then until late September. Until then, only the Cat Den sees sun, and because she never approved of the Cat Den – too open, too exposed, too impersonal and cat-oriented, she claimed at the time, she’ll have to deal with no sun eight months of the year. Her choice, not ours.
Uh oh, looks like she’s spotted us talking about her. Hi Ruby!
What was that I overheard? What about my choice? I didn’t buy this dark, dreary house. Can’t you move this sunshine into my room?
Um, well, it was the deepest part of the winter when we made our decision, and we thought you might have loved the sunny Cat Den, and gee, our bad for not covering the roof with skylights, and . . . my, what lovely whiskers you have today!

Quint is officially off kibble now, thanks in big part to that wonderful suggestion of using Parmesan cheese/Nutritional yeast sprinkles on top of his canned food. Persistence is key and we’ll openly admit we thought of giving up getting him switched from dry kibble to canned once or twice over the past two and a half months. Though, Quint doesn’t like the yeast as well as the cheese, the yeast has a cheese-like smell and doesn’t have all that added salt the Parmesan does, which isn’t good for anyone. We’re alternating using the yeast with Fortiflora and so far, so good.
Last week, we were able to start adding his daily dose of Miralax to his food, too. No more twice-daily syringe-fulls of that down his throat (that he usually shook half of all over the bathroom, anyway).
Aw, Mom. Did you have to tell them that part?

Hey! It’s Tessa up from her third morning nap!
What?

Thank you all for playing along on Friday’s Facts or Fibs.
We apologize for not being more specific on Number 2 – “Behind a door, in a no-cats allowed room, Mom is secretly learning to play the drums. Miss Newton plays along by pawing and thumping the floor, though not in the same rhythm.”
The answer was half-true but we failed to mention which half. Also, we said Mom was secretly learning to play drums. That part is true, and we say secretly because she uses an electronic drum set that plays through headphones. The only sound is Mom’s teensy tip, tap, tapping from behind closed doors. She’s not even sure if she really wailed on those skins, you’d be able to hear it, but she’ll let you know if that changes. Miss Newton does not tip, tap along though she does tend to complain if anyone is in that room too long. Sorry for any confusion.

Here’s a 70-piece online jigsaw puzzle of Ruby’s fabulous whiskers that we’re admiring again and not because she’s up in our faces. Honest. This one only took Mom 10 minutes 48 seconds to complete. She says she might have had someone on her lap “helping.” Likely excuse. Have fun!

Ruby I hear you on the sun…our house faces North. After 16 years I have learned when to find it where….but daylight savings time always messes me up.
Quint.. yay you!! Keep up the good eating
Hugs madi your bfff
We’re so glad Quint is eating more canned food! It can be so hard to transition those dry food addicts (like Benny).
Oh Ruby, you are such a cat!
So glad that Quint is doing well. So glad.
Now I’m off to do that puzzle! By the way, do you see our times?
No, we don’t get to see your times. We go by what anyone tells us they are and of course, we believe them! 🙂 Hope you like that puzzle today!
I’m glad you were able to switch Quint off of kibble. Ruby, I can’t believe your humans didn’t take into account the amount of sun puddles available in the house before they bought it. 😉 The drums are really fun to play and your kitties should be thankful that you just have an electronic kit.
guyz !!! thanx for sharin de jig saw … N we will hafta chex out yur fry day post even tho we noe de answerz all reddy…. { ruby…thiz iz time de time oh de yeer when de FSG takez sum fry dayz off …ore her never seez de lite oh day !! ♥♥♥
You guys are so lucky to have a cat den. Ruby you do have beautiful whiskers!
7:06 guyz !!!!!! ☺☺♥♥
We are lucky to have several rooms that are sunny at different times of the day. The only problem – and that is for my human – is that the area in the living room she uses most for photos goes a little dark in the winter.
We have to wait until mid April for the sun to reach the lounge. Flynn used to love to go in and lie on the sofa. He always found other sunspots when they were available the rest of the year.
I am glad Quint is eating the wet food now, and taking his medication in it. it is so much better on both sides when you don’t have to syringe it down.
You do have beautiful whiskers, Ruby. I will be back shortly to do the puzzle.
7.04! You should be able to see the times of anyone who has created an account on Jigsaw Planet. Mine and Eastside Cats are showing at the moment.
Ruby, your pawrents wete clearly thoughtless. Quint, spilling the embarrassing stuff about us is what they DO. and your mom, the drums are awesome! Maybe you can record your playing with kittehs wailing to back you up, that would be pretty sweet.
We’re glad you succeeded to switch Quint off of kibbles. We are lucky, as we have a small house, every room is sunny at different time of the day. Purrs
Mudpie completely sympathizes because there’s a serious lack of sun at our house too 🙁 That is such fabulous news about Quint and the kibble! Maybe he and Mudpie need to have a chat.
That’s great news about Quint. The mom wishes we liked that nutritional yeast stuff, but none of us did.
We never tire hearing of your adventures and your little quirks and habits. All of you are so unique and so special. We’re glad you never change. 🙂 We feel like you live just down the road from us. (Mom told us it’s a very, very, very long road!)
Stereo purrs………..Hemingway and Steinbeck
Yay for Quint but he doesn’t really spit his meds, does he? Hey Ruby, at least you have a room with sun. I’d have to go into someone else’s apartment. MOL!
Nice to see you all. I am off to do the puzzle now.
You sure know the way to my heart is your puzzles … and who can resist Ruby’s face?!?
Ruby, of COURSE you have to search out the sun. Our house has that same North-South issue, but at certain times, if we look in just the right places … sun puddles. 🙂
We are so happy that Quint is doing better!
Hugs!
Sounds like lots of difficult decisions – sunshine or favorite room.
Raven likes Proviable DC probiotic sprinkled on top of her canned food. I get the capsules and open them up and give her a little sprinkle now and then. If you want to try some, let me know and I can mail you a blister pack (I have plenty).
