Yes, Pia, the drip is still dripping. We’re meeting with the plumber/reconstruction guy tomorrow in hopes we’ll finally move forward with repairing the drip, and the plumbing, the drywall, the stained and bubbled ceiling and wall, and the shower itself that we haven’t been able to use since March 11th. Undoubtedly, Pia will join Quint in his blanket fort for that meeting.
We know our fiberglass shower stall and current fixture setup is no longer manufactured nor is up to today’s plumbing code standards. So some big decisions will need to be made.
Our homeowners insurance will only cover replacement, but without replacement available, how does that work? We’re probably looking at tile installation for the whole enclosure, meaning new shower doors and new fixtures, and we’ll have to pay for anything above what insurance will pay for, which looks to be about $4403.12. Or as we see it, about as much as will cost to tear out and replace/repaint just the damaged drywall downstairs. We do have a small amount of savings, squirreled away over the years by penny-pinching Mom. Thank goodness for penny-pinching!
In the meantime, most of the cats seem okay with the dripping sound. They’ve had a few weeks to get used to it and to the orange bucket nestled inside a big ceramic pot they usually use to take long summer afternoon naps. And they will again because we know construction only seems like it takes forever to finish.
Just Tessa alone seems to truly listen to the sound. “I believe that last one was in A-sharp, Mom.”
Sure it was, Tessa.

At least Tessa found a silver lining to a frustrating situation…plonk plink plunk!
Ugh, what a terrible ordeal. We are truly sorry that the solutions are not coming easily. Love, purrs, and hugs for you all.
Good luck. I hope it doesn’t cost as much as you are expecting it to.
I wonder if Tessa will start to sing along with the drips. 🙂
I love the cats’ reactions to the drip! Continued purrs…
Ugh, I hope everything gets worked out soon.
Oh no! I hope the cost is less than you fear.
