03/27/2024 – Who’s Who

Since losing Olivia last December, the cats had a little restructuring here so we thought this would be a good time to let you know who’s who and who gets along with who now.

Tessa is the oldest by three months. She didn’t come from a shelter or foster family and she’s always held that over all others, by which that means she thinks she should get away with anything she sets her mind to. And often does.

Tessa tolerates Pia meaning she won’t fight with Pia or snuggle with her; merely tolerates another cat lives under the same roof and prefers not to think about that too often. Back when Pia and her were the kittens here, they played together and Tessa, ever the street kid, taught sweet and innocent Pia how to defend herself.

Today, Pia feels about the same towards Tessa. Pia’s independent and knows she’s the house diva. She doesn’t need any tuxie cat bogarting the attention. Ditto for the baby, Viola.

Tessa’s hot and cold toward Quint. One day they’re napping together, the next, they turn up with scratches on each other’s noses from fighting.

Pia barely tolerates Quint probably because Quint’s always sniffing her butt. Needless to say, Quint likes a part of Pia and can do without her hissing at him all the time.

Quint would probably snuggle up with Tessa all the time but apparently, he has a love affair with his blanket too often for her taste, or anyone else’s taste. He’s a loner for the most part and perfectly happy with that.

Viola’s the baby of the house and little miss independent. While she doesn’t instigate fights, she’ll stand her ground if the fight comes to her. Thankfully, that isn’t often. We had hoped Viola and Quint would become best friends but it hasn’t turned out that way. She acknowledges Quint and sometimes Pia and stays away from Tessa whenever necessary. Viola and Tessa are sworn enemies for reasons only they know.

Currently, everyone seems to be perfectly fine with their own company. No one actively seeks another out. Everyone has their own personal automatic feeders and there are multiple water bowls upstairs and down, so there’s no real interaction during breakfast or dinner. The same is with litter boxes, toy baskets, and window sills. There are multiple and no one has to wait their turn. Sometimes we wish they all snuggled together but we’re happy with little-to-no fighting and that all seem to be very happy. Nothing to complain about!
