Technically, it’s still winter but we’re getting peeks of spring here and there at Colehaus. The spring violets are out.
The spring primroses are blooming.
The early spring bulbs are showy. Around here, we’re usually being drenched with rain day and night until mid-April or so. But we’ve had a few nice days lately and the spring bulbs aren’t wasting any time showing off.
The spring Scruffy is at the fountain.
The spring neighbor cat P is chowing down…
… as is our first spring raccoon. If you look closely, you’ll see this raccoon has a notched left ear, tempting us to name this one… Ears. No, not really. We’re looking for a better name for Ears. Nothing is coming to us at the moment. Ears was very polite and as you can see, not starving in the least.
A little later, spring raccoon #2 wandered by. This one was more interested in what we were doing in the garage than scarfing up the bits Ears left in the feeding station. And something about this one reminded us of one of the curious raccoon babies from last summer.
Could this be the same raccoon? Sure acted the same, cautious but curious and seemed to enjoy listening to us talk to him/her. Good to see them back but we really wish they would wait until after dark before coming around. There are too many neighbors around us now who hate raccoons.
Inside, Quint is feeling much better, though not enough for a photo session.
And then he changed his mind. Looking good, Quint!

Terrific photos all and we’re glad you are feeling mostly better Quint!
I don’t care for raccoons because I have heard they will fight with cats. Quint is such a cutie, I am off to do his puzzle.
Oh Quint, your mom won’t give you some private time? LOL
Give her one photo Quint and tell your Mom to move along. ; ) I’m glad you’re feeling a little better.
We haven’t seen any raccoons yet or groundhogs. The skunks never leave nor do the squirrels. We’ve had some daffodils blooming but no violets yet. Love the little wild violets, and we have them everywhere. We think you look quite marvelous, Quint. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
Quint is looking quite handsome! Looks like your house is the popular spot to be!
Your puzzles are my favorite!!! We’re glad to hear that Quint is feeling better. Looks like spring has sprung at your place!
We love the purple posies!!
Quint we hope you are feeling really frisky soon
Hugs madi and mom
You’re beautiful, Quint ! It looks like spring is coming ! Purrs
I’m glad Quint is feeling better.
We get raccoons here, but only late at night. Our security cam catches them now and again.
We used to feed a momma raccoon and her babies last year. Then they wandered off. To our surprise her one baby who was never shy has come back to see us! Our cats watch him from the windows. He is always polite and well behaved. We love raccoons too 🙂
We can’t believe you’re getting flowers already. No flowers for us yet. And those are some amazing shots of the raccoons. Here, they only come out a night it seems.
I hope Quint soon feels good enough to want to paint again !
“Spring neighbor cat P” has such a magnificent tail I thought he was a raccoon until I read the caption.
Hi, Quint!!! Your violets are SO gorgeous. Nothing but snow on the ground around here! I love raccoons too. Never see them around anymore 🙁
Glad Quint is feeling better! We don’t live far from The Island Cats and as they said, no flowers here yet! Sorry, NOT a fan of raccoons, they are MEAN!
Quint, you look very good today.
Whoa! Look at the claws on them raccoons! We had raccoons who hung on our porch but they were mean and attacked a neighbor. I think we have some in the garage now. Have you seen the FB video of the woman who took in a raccoon with a brain injury?
The rockies are up, here, but no sign of flowers. And by the way, Peep #1 is so jealous that you have sweet violets. She says they must smell super nice. Not as nice as nip or stinky feet valerian root, of course, but you know peeps, they like weird stuff. purrs
I am glad Quint is feeling better. I enjoyed doing his puzzle.
We have had some Spring flowers but when we got the very cold spell it killed them off and some of my shrubs too. We are not use to very low temperatures or snow here. It is snowing again now but hopefully won’t be much.
We are so glad Quint is feeling better!
Have a happy St. Patrick’s Day…
Noodle and crew
Hooray for those signs of spring! We get raccoons here, too, but usually we only seem them at night. Looking good, Quint. Glad you are feeling mostly better!
How nice you are getting flowers. Ours haven’t shown up yet.
Quint, glad you are feeling well! We only have snowdrops blooming right now, but the tulips are pushing through!
Quint, My good ManCat, You are looking magnificent. I can see deep in your artist’s soul you are planning your next series of paintings to reflect the challenging times you are just emerging from. While we were contemplating what form this art will take, we did your jigsaw puzzle. It was most entertaining. I was hoping for a LadyCat instead, but alas…just you. Well, you are handsome . . . *almost* as handsome as me.
