Breakfast time at Colehaus! Quint eats pretty early in the morning while Pia takes her time getting out of bed, sauntering to her feeder, and picking this or that bit of kibble (Pia is our last kibble-only holdout). Quint always, ALWAYS, checks out Pia when she’s eating because if she leaves kibble bits on the floor, he scoops them right up. That boy still loves kibble but only gets three or four pieces a day as a snack. He’s a canned wet food boy.
We’ve got some more questions asked by some readers who assured us they really, really wanted answers. So, here we go:
Why don’t you update your blog every day of the week?
Good question! Mom’s been blogging since before it was officially called “blogging” though not as Colehaus Cats. Between life and her schedule, weekend blogging was completely off the table, and readership was always down then, anyway. So, when Colehaus Cats began back in 2012, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday seemed to work the best.
We’ve made adjustments to that schedule every now and then depending on the situation here at home; we posted every Tuesday when angel Ruby was with us, and nearly every day when angel Zuzu had her kittens, and sometimes, when something special happens, like a visiting stray or ex-feral finds a forever home, we always pop in to share that news.
Any Patrol Sergeant progress?
Hmm, no, not really. We thought Viola was going to step up and carry on her mama’s legacy, but as it turns out, she just doesn’t care about the other cats. So independent that girl is! Tessa’s always ready to mix it up but that’s not being a good PS. She’s too much a troublemaker and she likes being that.
Quint is just too polite, Pia thinks the world revolves around her alone (shh, don’t tell her it doesn’t!), and Olivia prefers to take notes and tattle later. We’re holding out hope someone will show they can keep control of the shenanigans around here because some days are just wild!
Any changes to who gets along with whom?
Well, everyone gets along well enough to live under the same roof so, that’s good. Lately, Quint and Tessa have been getting on each other’s nerves. We think Quint’s looking for another snuggle buddy and Tessa won’t have any of that. So she growls and that gets Quint growling and within minutes Mom or Dad are yelling at them to knock it off and the neighbors think we’re screaming at our kids again and being bad parents.
Starting with Tessa, she ignores/gets along with, well, everyone until someone wants to snuggle. She’s a loner and like the baby, Viola, is very independent. Viola is just like Tessa but with a little more patience toward Quint. Quint and Olivia are snuggle buddies and no one else is invited to join that group. Pia is the diva. We can’t be any more plain that that. She doesn’t like anyone but doesn’t bother anyone either. Other cats simply don’t exist in her world, except for Quint who makes it his daily ritual to sniff her backside at least four or five times a day. To that, Quint gets a face full of Pia’s hissing, and then, it’s over and they both go their separate ways. Until next time.
I thought Tuxedo cats were black and white only. I think I see that Tessa is gray and white(?) from your photos of her. Doesn’t that make her something other than a Tuxie?
We don’t suggest saying that too loudly around Tessa. She’s very proud of her “tuxie-ness” and shows off her white gloves often. According to the Internet, where EVERYTHING is true (HAHAHAHA!), gray and white cats with white mittens and socks and around their necks are also considered Tuxedo cats. They are not rare.
The Internet goes on to say Tuxedo cats are up to 200 percent more intelligent than other breeds, are more curious, and tend to stay to themselves instead of having other cat friends.
Um, let’s choose to keep that intelligent information to ourselves, okay? No need to share that with troublesome Tessa.
How’s Mom Colehaus doing with her new job?
Thanks for asking! She alternates between thinking she’s in WAY over her head and feeling really good about her future there. New jobs are scary but Mom likes to think she’s able to put that thought aside just long enough to make it look like she knows what’s she doing. As for what exactly she does is still a secret. Let’s just say it doesn’t involve lifting heavy stuff or hauling wooden pallets around!
Got a question? Send ’em our way!

Great info ! Thanks for clearing up all these questions (some we didn’t know we had !)
Thanks for the updates! Mudpie is 100% with Pia on slowly getting out of bed and only eating kibble 🙂
Loved the questions and answers! I am glad your mom is doing okay with her new job.
Having a job and a blog can be a lot to do. I admire you for posting 3 times per week! I’m going to be lucky to squeeze out one per week. I think gray kitties can count as tuxies too. It’s the pattern that counts, right?
Those were good questions and good answers. I’m glad you are doing good with your new job.
I loved reading these answers!
