Last week, we mentioned we had a snow day, or two. Our area set a new record at 10.8 inches, even more recorded just a few miles east of us. Here at Colehaus, we had close to 8 inches and this is what that looks like in our backyard. That blob is our fountain and it was gorgeous with that snow blanket.
The following morning, we measured 7.5 inches. Who knows how much may have melted overnight? Did Mom mention she had to drive home from work in this? Hooo-yeah, she says that was “fun.” Or not!
The next day, Mom shoveled the driveway and a path in the backyard to the feeding stations, the feral shelters, and the bird feeder. Neighbors call her crazy. Apparently, shoveling snow is, or once was, deemed punishment for childhood infractions. Having not grown up in a snow zone, Mom just waves her hands, tsks under her breath, and shovels away. You be the judge on whether she’s crazy or not. BTW: We’ve lived here 33 years now and not once have we ever seen children shoveling snow. Must be a whole lot of perfectly behaving children around here!

Also last week, we shared an adorable raccoon print some mystery person sent us and we hung up in our kitchen:
We haven’t discovered the donor, yet, and Quint was a bit miffed we didn’t have a photo of him hanging in the kitchen instead. He may have insisted Mom not pose him with a knife and fork, and Mom being Mom, ran with that idea. Thanks, Quint!
Hmm, doesn’t look quite the same. *fiddles around a bit*
There. We’re calling it good. What we are not calling it as anything we’d hang in our kitchen. At least, not just yet. Sorry, Quint. We’re still smiling over the raccoon version!

Shoveling snow is terrific exercise, and it’s got to be done.
There is one good thing about snow: it can make things look pretty.
A storm is headed our way; will it be snow, will it be rain, will there be a lot or a little?
Get out your tarot cards to predict, because the weather folks have no idea.
The raccoon picture is lovely, but Quint is a good runner up! The snow looks lovely but I am glad we don’t have it.
Snow is pretty but Mom doesn’t mind not having to deal with it anymore. Quint doesn’t look happy in that photo.
I have never seen kids shoveling either. Great photos of Quint. XO
You’re adorable, Quint! I’ll take winter snow over summer heat any day, but for some crazy reason I find it easier to mow the lawn than shovel!
We need to find some of those kids around here! Quint, that raccoon is cute and all, but you are way cuter!
We are thrilled that we have gotten no snow here!
