This is my favorite blanket. It’s my fort making blanket. It’s not fleecy nor terribly soft. It’s one of those sturdy, thick, heavy blankets that seems made for a boy like me. I like the colors – green and white on one side, blue and pink on the other side. Personally, I like the green side down, opposite of what you see in Mom’s photo here. You know how well green goes with ginger fur. So I like the green side on me the best. Plus, the green side is darker and I like it dark when I’m in my fort.
As the story goes, Mom bought this blanket on a side trip to Mexico many, many, many years ago and hauled it around through deserts and mountains, through sand storms and ice storms, through housing changes and furniture moving days, and never once did she think someday it would make the best fort making blanket in the whole world. It’s like she was thinking of me . . . before . . . me!
I’m sure there’s more story to this blanket I love, but it’s calling to me and who am I to deny my favorite spot? Thanks for listening to me talk about my favorite blanket. It’s just a blanket, I know, but it’s my most favorite thing.

Quint, you look smashing inside the green blankie fort! And, of course your Mom knew you would be there as a member of the family…so she prepared.

That is a lovely fort making blankie, Quint. You are right, ginger and green go very well together.
Quint, that is a grade-A, top-of-the-line fort making blankie, for sure, Quint!
