Mom, do we have to get up today? Really? Let’s just sit here for a moment and think about that decision. My vote is to sleep all day!
Well, Quint, you’re certainly welcome to nap your day away, but Mom’s sitting downstairs thinking about things and choices. Luckily for you, she’s leaving the quiet, comfy upstairs all to you. Sweet dreams!
With her trusty old Quint coffee mug filled with good, rich coffee some sweet Friend of Colehaus donated (and arrived anonymously), Mom will wrap up her thinking some time soon and go back up to snuggle. Snuggles will be the rule today.*
Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll keep an eye on my brother while you’re thinking.
Sure you will, Tessa. We can see how you’re doing just that.
*THANK YOU, dear anonymous coffee donator! The box arrived without a tag or slip inside to know who specifically to thank and we didn’t want anyone to think we hadn’t received their gift. Thank you, THANK YOU!
Because sometimes the stars misalign and things outside of our control do their own things, sadly, Mom and the entire assembly warehouse company she worked with, about one hundred employees, were laid off Wednesday morning. The economic downturn due to Covid finally caught up with them.
This is her fourth job layoff since she started work at age fifteen and it never gets any easier. She’s still weepy and in shock and can’t believe she may never see the people she’s worked with for going on three years ever again. They all were her long workday family, and that job and building was her second home.
Understandably, she may be a bit down for a while. Then, when she’s over herself, she’ll get out there and find something else. She has no other choice. Plus, Mom believes you’ll do what you have to do and that’s that.
Meanwhile, it’s snuggle with kitties time!

Aww, crap!
So sorry to read about the layoff, and pray something comes along in no time.
TW knows the feeling of being laid off. Best of luck finding something new but you will.
I am sorry about the lay off. Enjoy those snuggles. The cats will make you feel better.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about the layoff. But it seems like so many companies are looking for employees…at least around here they are. Purring something comes your way soon.
We send your Mom purrayers and Power of the Paw and hope she can find a job again. It sure is discouraging.
That is such a thoughtful gift and so cute. I am sorry about the lay off. XO
You definitely need some snuggle time. Wishing you the very best.
You definitely deserve some snuggle time. Wishing you the very best.
I’m so sorry. I am praying hard for you and your family.
Dang, poor Mom, that totally sucks and we send hugs her way.
Snuggling with kitties is very good therapy while you gear up for the job hunt.
Wishing you a quick and successful search.
Maggie
Layoffs suck, but do take snuggle time with the clan. They’ve got your back.
Layoffs are frightening, and even jobs you don’t like have perks in people you do like. I hope your next job values you as a human instead of a piece of equipment, and the pay increases over the past year come your way. And now you can enjoy your newly-painted walls while you cuddle your kitties! I was laid off four times in one year right after I graduated college and the mills closed around Pittsburgh, everything closed. It’s different when you’re younger.
We are so sorry that happened, Mom Carole. We are hoping and purring for a new and better job to come your way real soon. Love, purrs and hugs to you all.
