01/10/2025 – Our Ginger Pia

Our ginger Princess Pia Bean’s getting old. We see it in her and thought she looked younger a year ago when she was eating a wet food diet. But she gave that up and we were okay with it because she was starting to lose a lot of weight on her canned diet. Kibble put the weight back on but she’s been looking older lately.

On the wet food diet, she liked being brushed daily. When she’s on kibble, she runs and hides and when caught, she cries. It’s the same brush, a soft human-style brush that’s easy on fur and skin. What that’s all about is a mystery.

Remember back in 2012 when she was a kitten, when her Elvis sneer photo nearly broke the Internet? Oh, those baby kitten toofies. That little button nose.

Or when she slept with the bunny, back when the bunny had both ears, before the Niblets ate one off.

And those adorably short, stubular legs.

Sweet Pia’s starting to show her age; she’ll be 13 in late April, and even though she poops more often on the laminate floor than in her perfectly brand new and shiny, cleaned twice a day, every day litter boxes (3) containing the finest Dr. Elsey’s litter, we love her to death. She’s the last ginger girl we’ve ever have; Mom having been owned continuously by a ginger girl since 1976 and at one time, by four ginger girls at once. It’ll be the end of an era. We’re not looking forward to it, although, that floor pooping thing. Yeah, that’s gotten old.
