Don’t mind me. I’m just watching. Interesting things happen here on Fridays, or so it seems to some. Laundry, vacuuming, cleaning . . . those things aren’t interesting to me, though I do pay attention to the vacuuming part because I hide from that noisy thing. Mom says I’m terrible at laundry and general cleaning so I’ve got a Free Pass.
Anyway, nothing’s interesting there. Meanwhile,
. . . some cat toys were trying to make a break for it. Can you blame them? That basket is positively stuffed with toys most of us hardly look twice at in any given year. Maybe they heard Mom mention it might be time to weed some of them out. I’m not sure what that means but maybe the toys know.
Or maybe someone was digging in the basket looking for . . . who knows what. Someone here does that and doesn’t care if the toys and kibble bits and cat litter are scattered all over. I know. I’ve watched that someone.
Am I being blamed for something again? All day long that’s all I hear. Tessa did this, Tessa did that, when, in fact, I hardly do anything wrong at all. Ever. I’m practically a role model!
Hmm, it would seem someone disagrees with you, Tessa. Maybe someone else has been watching, too.

Quint’s vet trip Wednesday went well. He didn’t have to wait too long to get in an exam room and he was a polite gentleman when poked and prodded left and right. His bloodwork came back yesterday with no definite sign of pancreatitis but with a slightly elevated liver reading. He also showed an abnormal amount of blood in his urine however, no bacteria reading. Next, they’re going to run a full urinalysis to see if he has a UTI starting up and that comes with the exact kind of treatment he’ll need to knock that out.
After that, they suggested perhaps, a full set of X-rays to look for abnormalities.
If you recall, we went through this whole same thing last year at our local emergency vet clinic (when our regular vet wasn’t available due to Covid restrictions), along with a complete ultrasound and a $1900 total bill. When providing that information with our regular vet this year, she practically snorted when told we were given instructions to feed Quint rice and mashed plain chicken for over a week. “That’s how you treat potential pancreatitis in dogs, not in cats. The rice wasn’t necessary. Cats need protein, not carbs from rice.”
Guess who isn’t getting any more rice this week.

You have to wonder sometimes in the variance of treatments with different Vets.
Purrs Quint does well on a rice free diet!
Paws crossed.
Purrs, Julie
We’re hoping Quint feels better soon. I can say that there are (non prescription) supplements you can buy for cats that help repair the liver. Benny had off liver values years ago and after a year of the supplement they were back to normal and we stopped the supplement. The supplement is called Denamarin.
Kitties, Da Boyz’s toy box sits unattended to great lengths of time, then one day it will be spilled over, and stuff strewn around.
Except for those spring toys; they roll under furniture and are never seen again.
Purring for Quint!
I hope Quint soon feels better and it is something easy to treat.
Continued purrs for Quint! Tessa, you ARE a role model! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Purrayers that Quint does well – one of our boys gets bloody urine once in awhile and all the tests showed no reason – I guess there is stressed-induced UTI. He gets some special food now, which he doesn;t seem to mind too much.
I bet Quint is happy he doesn’t have to eat rice anymore. 🙂 I hope he is better soon. XO
Good watching, Olivia! And Tess, we know it wasn’t you. Well, we’re pretty sure, anyway. We’re purring for you, Quint, and hope you are all better real soon. XO
