After months of trying to dissuade him, we’ve given up and accepted we’ve got a budding artist in the family.
It’s Quint, the littlest man of the house. It began when he discovered specks of fresh toothpaste on a bathroom mirror. Those specks were fascinating. He didn’t pounce and try to capture the specks; choosing instead to smear them around the glass. With his oversized paws and close proximity to the sink facet, soon we found it necessary to wipe down his “canvas” every day just so we could see ourselves.
Fast forward a month and he graduated to a messier medium – damp cat litter on the Colehaus Cat Den closet doors. More spreading action and as an added touch, gentle paw print dabs placed here and there. Not that we didn’t appreciate his work but…there’s that “Ewwwww!” factor every morning.
We switched the litter box location and all seemed well. Quint’s “painting” continued, mostly without white clay streaks on wood and never with claws. “Thump, thump, thump, paw, paw, paw.” We can hear him even now as we type this, pawing gently at an open door.
But over the weekend, we came up with an idea. It’s in the testing phase right now but look for his results very, very soon!
Such a cutie, I love his painting face.
Thank you! His ‘Whapping Face” is terribly cute too. The other cats strongly disagree.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with. I am sure one of my cat blogger buddies bought a painting kit for cats. Maybe you can google it. Have a lovely Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Good idea, Molly! Have a wonderful week!
yep Molly! One of the cat blogging buddies that featured it was me 🙂 Left the name of the product in the comments 🙂
Quint needs the Artcasso paint kit for cats! I featured it on Cat Chat:

Obviously the winner was chosen, but you should get this for Quint!
Awesome! Thank you!
you are welcome!! Can’t wait to see what he creates with it!
We love his extensive use of media available to him.
Hehe…we were afraid he’d go after the garbage pail next or maybe get into the refrigerator. We hear cheesy salad dressing makes good art…
Quint, you sound like quite a character. We want pictures of your art work please. It sounds pretty darn good. Hope all of you have a terrific day.
My Mom and the Dad said they’d work on getting pictures. Unfortunately, they want me in the pictures too! Not happy with that flashy box thing. Nope, nope, nope. Thank you for visiting! Have a wonderful day!
You know that you really could get Quint to paint (with Caren’s suggested product or something else) and sell them, even to fundraise for a local shelter. We’ve heard of this being done, by some cats and dogs, actually.
Plus, we’re pretty darned sure Quint would do a better job of it than a lot of the stuff our human’s seen in actual galleries.
Hmm, now there’s an idea. Of course it would depend on how long painting remains interesting to Quint. Let’s ask him.
Quint, we know you’re having fun now. Have you thought about how long you might like to paint? In cat years?
Oh, I think this might last a long, long time. At least another few cat years. We’ll have to see!
There you have it!
Did we press “post” on our previous comment? We sure hope so!
Yep, we got you!
Well, cr*p, we see the comment didn’t come through!
We were impressed with Quint’s artistic abilities, suggested he actually paint and that his works could be sold to help fundraise for a local shelter, rescue, whatever.
Besides, his work would be better than a lot of stuff our human’s seen in real galleries!
We got you! That is a good idea! And maybe a donated piece here and there to help fundraising too! Great idea! Thank you!
I can’t wait to see too!!! I know it is gonna be good!
Soon! My Mom says ‘prolly right after Halloween because we have to wear costumes first. Or something like that. Our Mom is silly sometimes.
We wanna see Quint’s artwork!! When’s the gallery exhibition??
Mom says my exhibition will be soon. I want to finish a couple of wintery pieces first. And today’s cold, rainy weather here is the perfect day for it! Thank you for asking about my work!
Quint really needs an outlet for his creative urges! Get that boy a canvas!
Mom says she found the cutest little canvases. I don’t think they’re cute; not until I painted one or two, that is. And without using anything from the litterbox either!
Quint, it sounds like you are a regular Kitty-casso! We can hardly wait to see what’s next! 🙂
HA! Maybe even a Mow-net?
Quint, you must have been a Matisse or Van Gogh in a previous life..and we sympathize ’cause as a cat you only have only certain “paints” to work with. I hope the new idea is one that will really spotlight your amazing talent!!
Tom
My people are proud to announce that no litterbox painting has been done yet today. Sounds like I’d better get busy! MOL!
Yes, if you let Quint follow his bliss, you’ll have a mighty happy cat. (And remember what they say: “Do what you love and the money will follow.”)
Both good points to keep in mind, and we really do want a mighty happy cat! Thanks!
Aw, Quint, with those awesome polydactyl paws you could be Picasso!
Hey Colehaus Crew, Jet here.
Quint, that’s quite a creative talent you have there. I think the humans would prefer you sticking to toothpaste as your medium! You remind Mom of when she and my human sister hung out with triplets when they were all about 1 and they used chocolate pudding on a big disposable tablecloth outside to finger paint with!
Ha, Jet! No fair giving Quint any chocolate pudding ideas! LOL!
We can’t wait to see Quint’s art. Just make sure we get to see more of that adorable face, too. He’s such a cutie!
Oh, we can’t wait to see what Quint comes up with!!!
….Those photos of him are ADORABLE!!!
; ) Katie & Glogirly
Such a sweet innocent face!

He needs some finger paint and then wash his paws after he has fun.
